Your Morocco Tour from Casablanca begins when you will be greeted by your Fes Authentic Tours experienced, Your experienced driver will take you to the Hassan II mosque, the largest mosque in all of Africa and, unlike other mosques in Morocco, non-Muslims are able to enter. Next is the imperial Ismaili capital city of Meknes. In Meknes, you will see the huge Bab El Mansour gate, the Royal Palace and the medina. Not far away from Meknes you will get the chance to explore the stunning, ancient ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis, where, among other attractions, you can see many very well-preserved mosaics showing scenes from myth and legend. Following this, revel in the scenery of the foothills of the Middle Atlas Mountains as you journey on to Fes where you will stay three nights in a splendid riad.
Your Fes Morocco tour local guide will meet you after breakfast at your riad to begin your guided excursion through Fes medina, the largest pedestrianised urban area in the world. First you will explore the narrow streets and alleys of the ancient, walled city, visiting the Al-Karaouine mosque and the nearby university of the same name which is the oldest working university in existence, the Medersa Bouanania, the famous leather tanneries as well as numerous interesting souks. You will be served a delicious lunch in a traditional Moroccan restaurant and then, in the afternoon, a visit to the Royal Palace, a look at the Mellah, which is the 14th century Jewish quarter of the city, and the day finishes with a trip to the ceramics factories and the tombs of the Merenid dynasty, the site of which offers spectacular views over the entire medina. You will spend the night back at your riad
After breakfast at your riad, your Morocco tour will continue with a day trip to the famous Blue City of Chefchaouen which involves a drive northward through beautiful countryside to the Rif Mountains. The amalgam of the Moorish civilisation with Spanish culture is apparent in the architectural heritage and colours used to construct and decorate the pretty little city. Enjoy the steep cobbled streets with their buildings painted in different hues of blue. And contrast with the red walls of the central square, fortress and keep. Look out for the unusual octagonal minaret of the Grand Mosque. Whilst wandering through the streets of the old town, you will be able to peruse the markets which offer a range of one-of-a-kind local handicrafts including leather goods and hand-woven products and take the opportunity to snap some photographs of Chefchaouen and the scenic surrounds of the Rif. You will be back at your accommodation in Fes for the evening.
In the morning, you will depart on the journey south to the Sahara Desert and the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. But first, your Morocco tour will take you to the quaint, Swiss chalet style town of Ifrane in the Middle Atlas Mountains, then on to nearby Azrou, surrounded by fragrant cedar forests home to the Barbary Apes, with whom you may get a chance to share a selfie. You then continue south, travelling through Midelt, where you will stop for lunch before coming down out of the mountains through the awesome Tizi N'Talghamt Pass into the fertile Ziz Valley with its palm groves to the Sahara edge city of Rissani, where the Morocco Desert Tour really begins. Carrying on even further south, you will suddenly see the huge dunes of the Erg Chebbi appearing out of the horizon like a mountain range. You'll then arrive at your hotel / kasbah at the edge of the dune complex, you will be able to relax after the long journey, enjoy a refreshing glass of mint tea and then dinner and a pleasant sleep to the melodies of sweet Berber music.
A plethora of choice awaits you after you have breakfast in the morning. This Morocco Desert Tour is the part of the overall Morocco Tour that a majority of our customer's love the most; the dunes and the Sahara exploration. Choose your own activities; perhaps some sand boarding and hiking in the dunes, maybe a more relaxing dip in the hotel pool or relax and use the free wi-fi in the area of the hotel's excellent restaurant. Just before the sun sets, your camel will be awaiting you, and you will soon be off on an unforgettable trekking experience amongst the desert dunes with the backdrop of the beautiful sunset contrasting vividly with the golden dunes. You get to spend the night in a Berber desert tent, encircled by towering dunes as your guide personally cooks you a traditional repast. Afterwards, chill out and watch the sparkling stars and glowing moon as you drift away to the subtle strains of traditional Berber music.
Awaken to a sensational sunrise over the dunes and ride your trusty camel back through the shifting sands and shadows to the hotel for your breakfast. Afterwards, you will be driven through the deep Todra gorges, a three hundred metre high canyon in the easternmost part of the Hight Atlas Mountains, nearby the town of Tinghir where you will get a chance to do some gentle hiking. You will have lunch in the Gorges and then continue on to Ouarzazate to visit the famous film studios, Africa's Hollywood, where the incomparable local scenery has been used for many a blockbuster film and are still a lure to major producers and directors. You will stay the night here in Ouarzazate.
When breakfast is finished, your first stop of the day on your Morocco Tour will be the renowned kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, an historic village built on a steep hill that has been the setting for segments of many hit movies such as "Lawrence of Arabia", "Indiana Jones" and " Gladiator". Enjoy a stroll through the kasbah of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and get a feel for the traditional wattle and daub style of Moroccan architecture that was used in most of the ancient kasbahs. Next, you'll continue on the route to Marrakech, passing back through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, 2,260 metres above sea level, and twisting turning mountain roads, beautiful scenery all dotted with Berber villages along the route. You will stay overnight in the Red City of Marrakech at a select B&B / riad or hotel.
After breakfast, you will begin your guided tour of Marrakech with your local guide, and expert on "The Southern Pearl of Morocco" as the city is also known. Here you will experience The Palace of the Bahia, the Saadian Tombs (another historical Moroccan dynasty) and the Koutoubia Mosque. Luncheon is to be enjoyed at a restaurant on the edge of the famous Djemaa el-Fna and following this, the opportunity to explore the square and the surrounding souks. Another pleasant night will be spent in your Marrakech accommodation.
After a final breakfast, your Morocco tour is almost at an end. Your driver will transport you back to Casablanca and the airport departures' area. Your unforgettable Morocco Tour from Casablanca ends at Casablanca!
